First Place Sports Camp

Welcome to the first ever First Place Sports Camp!  Everyone knows that Girls Place is the First Place for the girls of Gainesville to participate and thrive in sports.  Have you ever wanted to learn about 10 different sports in one week?  Have you ever wanted to become a better teammate or team captain?  Have you ever wanted to be coached by a variety of local coaches and athletes?  If so, then the First Place Sports Camp is perfect for you!!

In an effort to expose our girls to a wider variety of sports, we are now providing an all sports camp:

July 21-25, 2014

These camps will be open to girls ages 5-18 of all skill levels, who are looking to improve basic skill sets for a variety of sports. The week’s schedule is below and includes the following:

-8 Sports
-Former and current college athletes
-Community and UF RecSport coaches
-Leadership Training at Lunchtime
-Guest Speaker, Jaterra Bonds (2014 UF Women’s Basketball Graduate, Captain, and WNBA Camp Attendee)
-Surprise project on the last day
-Certified Nutrition Session

Day- Morning -Afternoon
Monday, 21- Soccer- Lacrosse
Tuesday, 22- Tennis- Volleyball
Wednesday, 23- Strength/Nutrition- Basketball
Thursday, 24- Flag Football- Cheerleading
Friday, 25- Softball- SURPRISE

Also, lunch will be provided by the following:

Monday-Adam’s Rib Company
Tuesday-Five Star Pizza
Wednesday-Red Onion Neighborhood Grill
Thursday-Reggae Shack
Friday-Southern Charm Chicken

No one sport will be repeated throughout the week.  Each sport will be taught by a team and/or coach from the community.  For example, basketball will be taught by the Florida Women’s Basketball team.  The leadership training will be conducted by our Executive Director, Janna Magette, who brings 11 years of collegiate athletics experience and is pursuing her PhD in leadership development.

Registration for the First Place Sports Camps opens on Monday, April 28th.  The cost is $150 per week and you can attend one or both.  The cost includes lunch, a leadership journal, and Girls Place t-shirt.  The cost does not include the required $20 annual membership fee.  Please contact Janna Magette at with any questions.
