Girls Place is a non‐profit organization dedicated to empowering girls of all racial, religious and economic backgrounds to GROW confident, strong, and independent in order to thrive in the world around them. The Executive Director is a full‐time salaried position. Responsibilities include: providing strategic leadership, financial oversight and general administration of the Girls Place facility and programs. This includes fiscal management, fundraising, program administration and supervision, staff management and training, board and volunteer development, community relations and long‐range planning.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or 3 to 5 years of equivalent experience with a non‐ profit agency

• Previous experience in social service/non‐profit organizations preferred.

• Possess outstanding leadership and the ability to motivate others to work together.

• Grant writing experience preferred.

• Good driving record and valid driver’s license are required.

• Able to be bonded.

Walk ‘N Roll Program

Girls Place Families,

We have started our walking program called “Walk ‘n Roll”, for you and your children! Now through May 31^st we will meet at 5:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to walk to Orange and Blue Park where we will walk around the track for 30 minutes together- between 5:45-6:15*. This time will not only improve the physical health of our Girls Place families, but will provide a great time for you to talk with your children and build relationships with other Girls Place families!

In order for your daughters to participate, you must check them out from the after-school program and walk with them around the track. As an incentive to participate in this program, each girl will earn 1 credit per day they participate, and for every 9 credits the girls earn they will have the opportunity to pick items from the prize box. The first 10 girls to reach 45 credits will receive the ultimate grand prize of a skate station field trip! Some of the prizes to be earned include jump ropes, bracelets, water bottles, necklaces, toys, recorders, markers and more!

Michelle Obama Visits Girls Place!

Girls Place recently had a surprise visitor, the First Lady, Michelle Obama!

The First Lady admired the mission of Girls Place and chose to visit us before making a speech later that afternoon at the O’Connell Center. Michelle spent time with our girls doing some activities in our gymnasium and talked to the girls about good nutrition and doing well in school. Girls Place was honored to have the First Lady visit, and we know that it was a day that our girls will never forget for the rest of their lives!
